St Columba’s Primary is a denominational school serving the community of Boghall, Bathgate. St. Columba’s Primary School is a member of the St Kentigern’s Academy Cluster Group.
Our current roll is 130 in P1-7 classes and 90 in the nursery, comprising 50 in the morning nursery class and 40 in the afternoon nursery class. The school currently has three composite classes and three straight classes.
The school management team is made up of the HT and PT. Nursery classes are supported by a nursery teacher, nursery nurses and Early Year’s Officer.
Distributed leadership is promoted across the whole staff. Staff demonstrate strong collegiality and teamwork which maintains the positive climate for learning in the school.
Nurture group approaches and strong partnership working supports developments in key areas of learning across the school and nursery classes to meet the wide range of GIRFEC needs.
The school works closely with the Parent Council, local parish and wider community and makes good use of the local community wing to engage in family learning programmes.
The school runs a very successful breakfast club and provides after school clubs at various times throughout the year.
This session, the priorities for improvements are:
- Raising attainment ensuring equity for all learners by engaging families in family learning
- Raising attainment and improving the qualities of learners’ experiences by providing support and challenge across key areas of learning
