Depute Head Teacher
Clovenstone Primary School

Salary: £47,085
Hours: 35 per week

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

Clovenstone Primary School is a co-educational primary school in the South West of Edinburgh. Although non-denominational, we provide Catholic Education to pupils wishing to take part.

We are a Positive Action School and part of the Schools Programme of the Scottish Attainment Challenge, which aims to raise the attainment of children and young people living in deprived areas in order to close the equity gap. We are strongly committed to this agenda and work closely with our families to best support our children.

Clovenstone has very strong links with the local community and works collaboratively with our associated cluster schools: Canal View Primary, Sighthill Primary, and Wester Hailes Education Centre.

This session Clovenstone has a roll of approximately 225. Additionally, the Nursery at this time caters for 30 children in each of the morning and afternoon sessions. There are 10 classes, including 2 composite classes, for academic year 2016-17. We have 15 members of teaching staff, including both a dedicated Support for Learning Teacher and PE Teacher. Teaching staff are very well supported by a team of 7 Pupil Support Assistants, and an Administrator. A part-time Business Manager, part-time Principal Teacher and Head Teacher make up the Senior Leadership Team.

The Depute Head will be responsible for the Leadership and Management of our 30/30 Nursery and the Early Level Curriculum. Remit will include taking a lead role in Literacy across the wider school, a shared role in the Child Planning process, curriculum design, tracking and monitoring progress.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Closing Date: 29 September 2016
