Job Summary

The Faculty of Health and Social Care has a track record in research that informs healthcare practice. The School of Nursing and Midwifery research is focussed around three core research themes; 1. Long term conditions; palliative care and bereavement research; 2. Maternal and family health and wellbeing research and 3. Mental and environmental health research

The purpose of this role is to provide sustained academic leadership to the University, primarily through demonstrating and fostering excellence in research and creativity, teaching and learning, service and engagement. The post holder will make a significant contribution to both the research, educational and nursing practice activities of the School of Nursing and Midwifery and its clinical and academic collaborators. The post is required to provide senior research leadership linked to a record of scholarly and professional achievement in the field of mental health nursing, recognised at an international level.

You will conduct individual and collaborative research projects including supervision of such projects, generate grant income and contribute to the research profile leading to the production of research outcomes; contributing to the University’s objective of growing our healthcare academic reputation for research-informed student teaching and learning, innovation and integrated academic practice.

Educated to doctoral level in a relevant area, you’ll have a track record of research in mental health or psychological well-being, external grant income and a track record of high impact publications, experience of doctoral supervision to completion and excellent writing and interpersonal skills. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work with established researchers in a School which is aiming to enhance its national and international reputation.
