Support for Learning Teacher, Springfield Primary School, 23.10 hours per week, 18.2, closing date 11th September 2016

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic individual who will have the necessary experience to assist in taking forward the principles of Curriculum for Excellence in order to support our young people and the improvement agenda of the school and authority. This Additional Support for Learning Teacher post will involve working with and supporting our learners across the school through the use of targeted and universal interventions to ensure their needs are being met. This teacher will be aware of and be able to utilise strategies to improve learner understanding and engagement, will be able to work cooperatively with staff to ensure learner needs are being met and will be a reflective practitioner with a commitment to on-going professional learning.

The principles of GIRFEC are embedded in everything we do at Springfield Primary and Bonnytoun Nursery. The school works hard to identify and overcome barriers to learning and we pride ourselves on providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for our children and their families.

West Lothian Council are committed to far reaching changes to the way we deliver our Education Services. These changes include giving you the support and environment that you need to get on with your job and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard and always aiming a little higher in our service delivery and improvements.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the West Lothian Council.
